APHRODITE

Club Rasuna, Jl. Rasuna Said, Kav. C-22, Kuningan

Bar, restaurant and pool parlor within the Taman Rasuna health club. One of the more popular after-work watering holes for many of Jakarta’s expats and quite a few clued-in Indonesians as well. A great place to take your wife or girlfriend. Has enormous varied menu with great food.

B'S BAR & LOUNGE

Lot 14 Sudirman Central Business Center, Jl. Sudirman Kav. 52-53

Features a small sports-oriented bar, a larger cushier lounge with quality artwork and slick garage/down-tempo music. A great place to relax, grab a bite and have a couple of quiet drinks with friends in comfortable surroundings.

BLOWFISH

Menara Bank Danamon, 29th Floor, Jl. Prof. Dr. Satrio, Kav. E IV/6, Kuningan

Pricey but excellent nouveau sushi restaurant below; slick hip cocktail lounge/wine bar above. The place where half the trendy up-market Indonesian crew go for early evenings prior to hitting Embassy after midnight . Quite a few westerners go there as well.

BUGILS CAFE

Taman Ria Senayan, Jl. Gerbang Pemuda No. 3

Name is short for “bule gila” (i.e. crazy white foreigner). A small cozy pub extremely popular with the long-term expats of Jakarta . Has a pool table, big screen TV, good pub menu and some of the spunkiest and most fun-loving waitresses in town.

CINNABAR

Plaza Gani Djemat, Jl. Imam Bonjol 76-78, Central Jakarta

L-shaped wine bar/pub with sunken main area and bowling alley-wide extension. Great central location, nice after-work/early evening spot, popular amongst Jakarta 's western journalists.

THE CLUB

Jl. Hasanuddin No. 60, Block M

The oldest bar in Block M, used to be located a few doors down. Great set of pool tables, some of the same antique bar girls that have been there for 20 years, only now they make money by giving back massages for a few bucks while you're sipping a beer on your barstool.

D'S PLACE

Jl. Falatehan I, No. 1C Block M

The most popular Block M bar at the moment. The downstairs is packed full of expat regulars during happy hour. Later on, during the nightly dance competition and lady's lucky draw, the second floor overflows with bar chicks and westerners looking for company. Open until 2am weeknights, 3am on weekends

FEZ

Kinara building, Jl. Kemang Raya 78B

Moroccan influenced lounge bar with a large central bar, a cozy sofa area to relax and couple of pool tables to fill in the evening. Popular after work venue for expats and the couples crowd later on. A great place to start your night before dining upstairs at Kinara or one of the many other restaurants in the street.

FLANAGAN'S

Sari Pan-Pacific Hotel, Jl. Thamrin No. 6, Central Jakarta

Traditional Irish pub on the ground floor of a 4-star hotel, British style pub food and friendly waitresses. Popular with business travelers and the expats and Indonesians who work nearby.

Open-air hideaway in South Jakarta with western food, pool table and internet facilities. Good getaway place to have a quiet drink at reasonable prices.

KELTS IRISH PUB

Gran Melia Hotel, Jl. Rasuna Said, Kav XO, Kuningan

A mini-mockup of Stonehenge in an Irish Pub. Not a bad early evening spot to ride out the rush-hour. Has top 40's local band providing light background music from Monday thru Saturday, 8pm ‘til midnight .

MANNA HOUSE

Taman Ria Senayan, East End Bldg, Unit 101, Jl. Gatot Subroto, Senayan

Formerly known as Manna Lounge, this is where the other half of the trendy up-market Embassy crowd hangs out early to mid-evening. Occasionally hosts special music events with top international down-tempo DJ artists. Can get really packed.

MY BAR

Jl. Falatehan1 No. 16, Blok M

My Bar ? Your Bar ? Never mind - this new kid on the Blok is fast becoming the area's late night hotspot. Complete with mirrored dance floor, laser lights and My Bars bar dancers you can dance and drink your night away to the wee hours. Open from 11.00am – 5.00am so there's plenty of time to unwind.

P'S PLACE

Jl. Jaksa No. 5, Central Jakarta

Just about the only fully-enclosed and air-conditioned pub on Jalan Jaksa. Friendly waitresses, decent pub food and a pool table upstairs. Frequented by journalists, English teachers, local expats and a wide assortment of tourists.

PARC

Wisma Iskandarsyah, Jl. Iskan-darsyah Block A/4-5 Kav 12-14, Near Block M

Brand new lounge at the former location of Prego. Relaxed interior with lots of wooden panels, plants and greenery; owned by top Jakarta DJ Anton and his sister. Place is still developing its identity.

SATU LAGI

Hotel Kristal, Jl. Terogong Raya No.1 Cilandak

A popular after-work and weekend watering-hole with many of the westerners who live in South Jakarta . Has good pub food and several big screen televisions. Really fires during major sporting events. Family, wife or girlfriend friendly.

MAD DOGS

Cilandak Commercial Estate Building 305, Jl. Raya Cilandak KKO

The only early opener in town, Mad Dogs runs from 7am till last man standing, which is usually 11pm weekdays and 2+am weekends. English styled pub with pool table and quality pub fare including great breakfasts. Bit of a treasure hunt to find it, but well worth the effort.

STANFORD ARMS

Hotel Ambhara, Jl. Iskandarsyah Raya No.1, Block M

The most authentic British pub in town, popular happy hour/early evening drink spot amongst Jakarta 's working westerners. The interior, beer selection and pub menu almost make you feel like you're somewhere back in merry-old-England.

STAR DELI CAFÉ

Jl. Kemang Selatan Raya No. 5, Kemang

Bar on the southern outskirts of Kemang with a few pool tables, lots of 1950's movie star photos and a handful of waitresses in sexy mini-skirts. Decent sandwich and burger menu, a great place to spend a happy hour with lots of legs to look at.

SPORTSMAN

Jl. Falatehan I, No. 8, Block M

The top sport's bar in Block M, big screen televisions and pool tables upstairs and downstairs. Probably has the most consistently good food of all the Block M pubs; their thick crust pizzas are especially popular.
